Principal Contractor, YMCA West Kent

Appointed by the YMCA West Kent to undertake the refurbishment of their new retail outlet and head office facility in Tonbridge, Logic CP Limited acted as Principal Contractor on the design and build project.

Requiring fire protection works to ensure the correct separation is achieved between the ground and first floor, our in-house tradesman undertook a soft strip of the existing services and finishes to create the bare frame structure for the protection works to be undertaken.

To increase the floor plate into the adjoining warehouse requires the team to undertake structural adaptions to the dividing wall to form openings to create an extension to the shop floor area in a sympathetic and flowing format. The layout required new fire rated partitions and doors to meet legislation and building control. Our works included all the internal finishes and services including lighting, heating, decorations and floor finishes.

To ensure compliance with the DDA regulations and requirements for the retail environment, we also installed new access doors to the space and external groundworks to create parking spaces, access ramps and external landscaping to compliment the scheme.

The external façade was decorated in a vibrant orange to compliment the corporate colour scheme and to draw attention to the building from the main road.

In addition to the retail and warehouse refurbishment, Logic CP also undertook the refurbishment and fit out of the office space to the first floor. Creating the new head office environment YMCA West Kent required from the new space. In addition to the office provisions we also created a break out space and training area for 30 people, which is used to deliver the quality courses our client provides to support young people in the area.

The warehouse created not only a storage and holding area for furniture before it is moved the retail section of the ground floor, but a workshop and maintenance facility area for students to undertake their work programme schemes. In support of their training students are taught how to recycle furniture and other publicly gifted products before they are tested and put on display for sale.

In support of the charity Logic CP undertook this project at cost to ensure all monies spent went to their deserved cause. We are proud to be associated with the scheme and at the grand opening the Local Mayor complimented us on the standard and quality of workmanship.
